Cherry Barb

Introduction 

The Cherry Barb's slim body is less carp like than most of the barbs.It is reddish brown and bright red in the breeding male.A dark longitudinal bands runs from the snout to the end of the caudal peduncle and may be partially repeated on the row of scales beneath.A pair of barbels is present in the upper lip and the plain fins match the body color.The female fins may lack color.

Diet

They are omnivorous .Feed the fry newly hatched brine shrimp until large enough to accept crushed flake food.

Remark 


The cherry Barb is suitable for small aquariums and should be kept with other small fishes.It breeds readily in captivity.Subdued lighting conditions complement the fish's coloring.
